I am a researcher in observational astrophyics. My special interests are asteroseismology of solar-like stars, delta Scuti stars and beta Cepheid stars, eclipsing binary stars, and abundance analysis of stellar spectra.
I analyse data from the star tracker on the WIRE satellite. The camera has a 52mm aperture and records 10 images per second. When adding the images from 15 seconds the photometric precision is about 1 mmag for bright stars. WIRE has been observing since 1999 and we have light curves for more than 200 different stars. Each target is observed for up to six weeks.
I analyse stellar spectra to infer the abundances of elements in the photospheres of stars. I wrote the software package VWA, which is available to anyone with an IDL licence.
I am currently a postdoc at the School of Physics (USyd) in Sydney, Australia.
This is where I live...
